Online Gaming Exposed! Video | Beware ‘Sexbox’, PS3, and Wii – They’re Dangerous!!!

Posted: 03 Feb 2010 06:21 AM PST

What the hell has happened to the news? There was a time when it was full of well-researched journalism, but it’s now full of sensationalist scaremongering of the highest order.

This video is the perfect example, with an ill-researched scare piece about the dangers of online gaming. Apparently everyone is a pedo, and the Xbox should be rechristened the ‘Sexbox’. That’s you told.

We saw yesterday how the news has become dull and predictable. But this, if anything, is a worst crime being committed by the news channels – the misreporting of non-news which blows a small problem out of all proportion.

I’m sure there are some weirdos playing video games online to contact members of the opposite sex. But it’s a tiny minority. And it’s a tiny minority of those who are pedophiles looking to pick up underage partners.

Yet this report would have you believing everyone is a potential rapist. It also forgets to mention that you’re perfectly safe unless you decide to give the strange man or woman you’re talking to your full home address. Which most people, however young and naive, aren’t stupid enough to do.

Oscar Nominations 2010 Video | This Year’s Academy Award Nominees Announced In Full

Posted: 03 Feb 2010 01:01 AM PST

The 2010 Academy Awards nominations were announced yesterday morning, and this video shows Anne Hathaway and Tom Sherak revealing the actors, movies, and directors in with a shout of winning an Oscar this year.

Avatar and The Hurt Locker are the two big nominees this time around. But whether Avatar can come close to achieving what James Cameron’s first smash hit, Titanic, did in 1997 remains to be seen.

Christoph Waltz and Kathryn Bigelow are absolute shoe-ins for ‘Supporting Actor’ and ‘Best Director’, with Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock favorites to win ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Actress’ respectively.

The actual Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 7, giving us all plenty of time to decide who we’re backing on the night. Expect tears of both happiness and misery on the night.

7 Year-Old Kid Raises $150,000 For Haiti (Video) | How Much Did You Give Again?

Posted: 02 Feb 2010 08:21 PM PST

I donated $10 for the relief effort in Haiti earlier this week. Little did I know that my donation was a pathetic drop in the bucket compared to what a little kid raised by riding his bike.

In one day this 7 year-old raised 100,000 British pounds (over $160,000)!

While this story makes for a great headline, this “shocking” act of kindness is actually pretty easy to explain. No doubt, his parents set up the online page and spread the word with a cute story. My guess is that most people would donate to a kid riding a bike for Haiti just because of the underdog factor (or at least check it out for a laugh).

And obviously it worked- is that a UNICEF t-shirt the kid has on?! It’s no wonder the donations kept flooding in! Forget going door to door campaigning, I have a feeling kids riding bikes are going to be the next trend when it comes to raising money for charities.

Sexy Photos on Live News Broadcast Video | Now That’s a News Flash

Live news is a double-edged sword, with the power to inform an audience of an unfolding story as it happens, and the power for disaster. While the broadcasters disagree, it's videos that fall into the latter category which are much more fun.

Here a fairly innocuous finance report is spiced up thanks to a pervy worker at the Macquarie Private Wealth. While Martin Lakos comments on static interest rate, his coworker has another interest.

Not content to just show us saucy pictures of a near-nude Miranda Kerr his computer, he also turns to the camera and shows his rather sheepish face at the end.

Something tells me he'll have a stern talking to today, both from Macquarie management and his mom!
