Robin Day for Hille 1960s space age coffee table

Posted: 17 Feb 2011 09:39 AM PST

Hille

Nice bit of space age design - and not something you see all that often - this Robin Day for Hille 1960s space age coffee table.

We have featured an armchair that the designer did in a similar style, also made by Daty for Hille. This is the perfect side table for it, a coffee table with storage in the centre if you remove the central disc.

It's described as being in 'very good vintage condition', with two very small cigarette burns that are 'only noticeable on close inspection'. £9.99 is the current price.

Ligne Roset's Cemia collection is a whole range of storage furniture for the living room, dining room and bedroom.

The collection includes wardrobes, chests of drawers of various sizes, sideboards and TV cabinets, all of which have been created from two sections of curved multi-ply in walnut or matt white. The fronts and backs are available in white or black lacquer or with the walnut option a glossy taupe finish, which looks particularly midcentury.

As you would expect with Ligne Roset products, the Cemia range comes with a hefty price attached – a 2 drawer bedside unit costs £1,261 whilst the sideboard pictured here costs £3,374. Further details are available on the Ligne Roset West End website.

Obsessive fans of Barbara Hulanicki's work might be interested to know that as well as the wallpaper we've mentioned in the past, she has also created a range of paints for Graham and Brown.

As you would expect from the Biba founder, the Barbara Hulanicki Matt Emulsion colours tend towards the bold and dramatic with several shades of purple amongst the 24 options. Obviously once it is on your walls, the designer won't be apparent, but the paint does come in a pot with Hulanicki's signature design on the front.

It costs £23 per 2.5 litre pot from Graham and Brown.

Cream retro alarm clock from Debenhams

Alarm clock

We've featured so many retro styled alarm clocks on this site that anyone still relying on their mobile phone to get them up in the morning should hang their heads in shame. If none of the previous offerings have tempted you, perhaps this cream retro alarm clock from Debenhams will appeal?

Made by Larkfield, the clock combines a curvy ball shape with a clean and simple clock face. The two pointy metallic legs give the clock a slightly different Space Age look to some of the other retro alarm clocks that are available.

A basic design, with a basic price tag to match: the clock costs £20.

Ensemble print from Moxy Creative House

Posted: 17 Feb 2011 07:06 AM PST

Styleofmusic-full
The story of Rock 'n' Roll has been told in many ways but this Ensemble print from Moxy Creative House uses twenty of music's most stylish dressers. Each musician is represented by one of their most distinctive outfits.

While there are some pretty uninspiring choices on there - Pete Doherty and Brandon Flowers for example - there are lots more that are likely to appeal, crossing musical genres: take your pick from Bob Dylan, Chet Baker, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Elvis, Kiss and Run DMC just for starters. The design is bound to amuse but also to prompt many discussions about its selection (no Bowie? no female stars? etc etc).

You can buy the print showing all twenty outfits together or, if you have a particular favourite, prints of each ensemble are available individually too.

Each print costs $30.

Prince Charles' 1979 Range Rover Classic up for sale

Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:53 AM PST

Land1

For those who though we couldn't top the Queen Mother mini bus, well, we just might have with a 1979 Range Rover Classic, originally owned by Prince Charles in his bachelor days.

According to the seller, this is a 'lovely and now sought after' early model, but just as significantly, it was supplied new to the Royal Mews in Buckingham Palace for the exclusive use of HRH Prince Charles. Indeed, he got it for his 21st birthday. Not just any old early model either, some unique features (at the time) were also added.

Land2

Those include pockets to both front doors, wood trim to both front doors and to the rear seat back, a low-emisssion engine, a fullly opening roof for bird watching, electric windows, an 'econometer' to show how economically you are driving and a dog mascot to bonnet.

It's been restored to 'original condition' with what's being described as a 'nut and bolt' restoration, costing over £72,000 to complete. With that in mind, this certainly doesn't come cheap. But if you want it, you can have it for £82,750.
