Gaza Flotilla Video | On-Board Footage Of Israeli Navy Boarding Gaza Strip Aid Convoy Posted: 31 May 2010 09:00 AM PDT Israel has attacked the convoy of ships attempting to take humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Countries around the world have condemned the military action and branded it over the top. This video shows footage of the boarding on one of the ships as it happened. At least 10 people are known to have been killed.
Israel has blocked aid coming into Gaza since Hamas took power in 2007. Although some aid is let through, it’s estimated it’s only around a quarter of what is needed. Israel has allies around the world, but even its most staunchest have condemned this action. With the notable exception of the U.S., which seems to give Israel carte blanche to do whatever it damn well likes. Personally I’m just about sick of hearing about Israel and Palestine, and all the blood that has been spilled for pointless reasons. Grow up, and learn to share the land and the monuments both races hold so dear. Or this is going to end in an almighty war. |
Lena of Germany Wins Eurovision Song Contest with “Satellite” Posted: 30 May 2010 03:43 PM PDT Pint sized indie poppet Lena has taken out the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with her impossibly catchy tune “Satellite.” It also doesn’t hurt than Lena’s cute as a button, although as any Eurovision watcher knows there’s never any shortage of eye candy in the competition. Lena’s win means Germany will host next year’s event, which for this Eurovision tragic cannot come fast enough! |
Wheelchair Kid Pitch Invasion Video | Dad, I Just Wanted To Join In With The Celebration! Posted: 30 May 2010 02:10 PM PDT I feel so sorry for this kid. He’s stuck in a wheelchair but doesn’t want to let this fact hold him back. So when the rest of the crowd invades the pitch after a goal is scored during a soccer match, he joins in. Good for him, no?
No, at least according to the guy who’s with him, and who I assume is his father. He rushes on to the pitch after him, spins him around and directs him back to the stands. And gives him what looks like a clip around the ear for good measure. I know that pitch invasions are technically prohibited and could get you arrested. But the stewards don’t react to this one, and the chances of them arresting a kid in a wheelchair are remote, anyway. Maybe there was a safety concern here, but still. A little harsh, in my opinion. |
