One of our firm favourites on Retro To Go, Mode Merr have come back to the market flying this month with a vamped up new website and plenty of covetable clothes to help the relaunch. One of our favourites, thanks to its versatility and undeniable vintage charm is this Understudy Blouse.

Made from a stretch jersey fabric, the top clings to curves to create an ideal separate for your fifties and early sixties looks. With a peep hole neckline, pointed collar and ribbon fastening, the decolletage is key on this one. With a slim long sleeve and fitted cut, however, you can be sure the silhouette is kept classic throughout.

The Understudy Blouse is available from Mode Merr for $62 in a wide range of sizes.

Military Dress by Bettie Page Clothing

Posted: 06 Dec 2010 10:09 AM PST

Bettiepagemilitary

While a more subtle military influence is all the rage in mainstream fashion at the moment, there are times when our retro wardrobes call for something altogether more literal. This Olive Military Dress from Bettie Page Clothing takes the trend at face value to create a wonderfully kitsch dress straight from the forties and fifties wardrobe.

The structured tailoring makes a real impact, creating a bombshell hourglass silhouette on any frame. With a square neckline, double breast buttons and cutesy pleating at the hemline, the dress has plenty of military details to boast about. The rest is kept classically vintage themed, with wide shoulders and a slim pencil skirt cut creating a killer late forties look.

Get it online from Bettie Page Clothing for $134, also available in grey.

eBay watch: 1970s Guzzini Sorella space age table lamp in black

Sorella1

We featured one of these in white some time back, but now there's a rare 1970s Guzzini Sorella space age table lamp in black being offered on the eBay site.

Designed by Studio Tecnico Harvey for Guzzini back in 1972, this space age design got even more notoriety for its extensive use in cult 70s series Space 1999 - see over the page for a picture of it there. You can see why it was used, even today it looks ahead of its time.

This particular example is in black and described as being in 'very good' condition, although there is a tiny hairline crack to the base, which is pictured on the site (should you want a closer look). Saying that, right now it's just 7p, which is an absolute steal.
