Sherlock Cape by Rocha.John Rocha

Rochacape

Mainstream outerwear has long had a rich seam of vintage inspiration, with this Winter seeing a major comeback for the sixties look cape. Some high street designers are still finding plenty of inspiration from the style, as seen in this Sherlock Cape by Rocha.John Rocha.

With a trench coat inspired style, the look is kept classic with a fawn colouring and true retro detailing. The high collar, storm flap and epaulettes retain the military influence on original trench coats, while the cape cut and waist belt add some mid sixties design flair.

It's now available from Debenhams for £89.

Embellished Prom Dress from River Island

Embellishedprom

Among the end of sale rails and the last of the Winter season's fashion fodder, the high street is beginning to show us a taste of the Spring months to come. While it might seem a lifetime away, some retro retail therapy might be just what January calls for.

This Embellished Prom Dress from River Island has a cutesy fifties vibe that's ideal for the warmer weather. With a high neckline and fitted waist, the circle skirt combines to create the perfect vintage silhouette. The light cotton fabric provides a unique take, moving away from the heavy, stiff fabrics of many fifties looks to create a convincing retro look.

It's available now from River Island for £44.99.

  LIBERTY

Liberty's new season fabric collection features this rather lovely collaboration between the Liberty Design Studio and award-winning children's illustrator Brian Wildsmith.

The collaboration draws on Liberty's heritage, revisiting a relationship between shop and artist which dates back to the 1950's. The design features pastel biplanes and jets and combines an original illustration from Wildsmith's 'The Amazing World of Words', with Liberty menswear prints.

The fabric is 100% cotton and would lend itself to all sorts of creative projects.
It's available both in-store and online and is priced at £19.95 per metre.

eBay watch: A pair of 1960s Danish space age two tone ceiling lights

Posted: 19 Jan 2011 07:10 AM PST

Danish

The maker? The year? We're not entirely sure, nor is the seller to be honest, so let's just say these are a pair of 1960s Danish hanging lights, which could prove to be really good value.

Likely to be 1960s but possibly sneaking into the 70as, this pair of lights is actually made of metal, with what looks like copper (or a copper colour) on top, with steel at the bottom, sized around 24cm diameter.

Condition is described as 'good' but they do have some small scratches due to age and use - see the full description for close-up shots of the affected areas. Right now, the price is just 1p for the two, although there's still some time to go.

Vintage 1930s Pinball / Bagatelle Games at Pedlars

  Pinball+Happi+Time+small Pinball+Rocket+shotsmall

Pedlars have acquired a fantastic collection of around 50 depression-era vintage pinball and bagatelle games. Originally popular during the 1930s and used at home and in bars, these tabletop amusements were the precursor to the pinball machine.

The games are the genuine article and each is a one-off - once sold these precise designs are unlikely to be available again. They are all in good condition and working order but with their colourful and eye-catching designs they would work just as well as decorative pieces.

These slices of genuine Americana are priced at £395 each.

To view more examples and to purchase, visit the Pedlars website.
