Starlettee

Tarantula Clothing have cut their niche in the fifties look clothing market by favouring an edgier rockabilly style, always ideally toeing the line between trashy and glamorous. This Hollywood Starlet Tee is their latest design, with a simple but effective retro chic.

The high crew neckline along with t-shirt sleeves keeps things simple and almost demure, while the irresistibly figure-hugging cut makes sure to amp up the pin-up appeal. Leather Applique Beret by Vivien Sheriff

Posted: 16 May 2011 11:15 AM PDT

Leatherberet

While the high street may have visited and revisited many aspects of fifties and sixties fashion throughout recent years, the 1940s is still a look that proves elusive for the mainstream. Accessories including hats were a central part of the style of the forties, making pieces like this Leather Applique Beret by Vivien Sheriff well worthy of a look-in from enthusiasts of the era.

Providing an unusual twist on traditional beret styles, the soft brown leather doesn't spoil the retro appeal, with floral applique detailing adding a quaint English countryside aesthetic. The rigid structure, too, stands out from the crowd of soft-style berets that have been around for years.

The hat is now available from Urban Outfitters for £68.

Adidas Beckenbauer Allround trainers get a reissue in white and grey

Posted: 16 May 2011 09:39 AM PDT

Beck1

Always a popular reissue, with the latest version of the Adidas Beckenbauer Allround trainers in white and grey already doing swift business.

As you probably know, the trainers date back to 1982, an all-round training shoe inspired by the legendary German footballer, as well as being a terrace classic. This reissue has an off white nubuck upper, tonal suede mudguard, grey three-stripe branding and heel piece, plus gold Beckenbauer text and endorsement logo by the nam himself on the tongue.

Some retailers have already sold out, but all sizes are available as I type at the Adidas online store. Another shot over the page.

eBay watch: 1970s Peil and Putzler ceiling lamp

Posted: 16 May 2011 09:31 AM PDT

Holm

Love the colour, but also love the face that it's not unlike a Holmegaard vase for your ceiling. The Peil and Putzler ceiling lamp that is.

Out of the 1970s (as you might have guessed), it is actually glass rather than plastic in construction, with the orange outer contrasted by a white inner glaze. The bulb casing is apparently fitted with three retractable prongs, which thread through the lampshade.

Condition? 'Very good' according to the seller, with a 'few very small chips' on the bottom rim of the lampshade on the white glaze, but 'hardly noticeable'. If you want it, right now it's at 99 pence.

Bus1
If your home is looking rather bare now you've taken down your Royal Wedding bunting, perhaps you could hang up some of these London Bus Lights instead.

Each wooden bus is shaped like a classic bright red London bus and has a small bulb inside it. There are 12 buses on the string. Probably best suited to a child's bedroom, they lose some of their appeal if you are forced to travel on the real thing each day!

The lights cost £38.95 per string from Vinegar Hill.

This Trio of Teak Wall Birds updates the kitsch flying ducks idea with a more folk art aesthetic.

The bird shape is the designer Naomi Murrell's signature design. The set comprises three wooden birds of varying sizes; the smallest is 8cm, the largest is 18cm. They are supplied with Velcro dots for easy hanging. They costs Aus$120 (just over £78 at the time of writing).

Susanna tatty

Tatty Devine have teamed up with artist Susanna Heron to mark the Electrum Gallery's 40th anniversary exhibition 'Past, Present & Future', which celebrates jewellery design of the 1970s.

Susanna pioneered the New Jewellery movement of the late 70s and early 80s, a radical design phenomena lead by British artists. Her work was only available in cutting edge galleries and high end department stores of the day and today the originals grace the archives of the Crafts Council. The Perspex Multiples project was first produced by Susanna in 1976 in the same workshop & using the same materials used by Tatty Devine today.

Perspex Multiples comes as a signed box set in a limited run of 25 and does not come cheap. The set is available in colour or white for £600 from Tatty Devine's website.
