The 1980s had a particular fondness for fifties styles, reinterpreting pieces with a unique eighties slant. This Polka Dot Jacket from Warehouse is really reminiscent of an eighties reimagining of fifties style elements. The 50s polka dot print is used in a simple but structured blazer, with the rolled 3/4 sleeves and hip pockets helping to create that relaxed androgyny of eighties mainstream fashion. Mengsel Toucan Print Posted: 03 Aug 2011 09:49 AM PDT   Birds often turn up in Scandinavian-inspired designs, be it folk-art style doves or owls, but the subject of this print is less common. The Mengsel Toucan Print by Luzelle van der Westhuizen is inspired by geometric and hand-drawn patterns, particularly those found in African and Scandinavian design. The design is dominated by a bright orange colour, which adds to its retro look. The silkscreen print is available as a limited edition (although the number isn't specified) and framed in white wood. It costs £105 from Heal's.

Town Colour It Yourself Poster from Summerville Posted: 03 Aug 2011 08:55 AM PDT   You may remember the Scandi Poster from Summerville we featured a while ago – now the same company Summerville have produced a new design on the same idea. Where the Scandi design featured flowers, the Town Colour It Yourself poster should appeal to anyone with a love of architecture as it features rows of houses in different styles, along with passing traffic of vintage-looking cars. It has been screenprinted, but with only a black outline; the rest being left for you to colour in with pencils, felt tips or crayons as you wish. It costs about £10 from the Summerville Etsy store.

eBay watch: 1960s Dansette RG.31 with legs Posted: 03 Aug 2011 08:28 AM PDT Not just another Dansette, this Dansette RG.31 comes with legs and a radio. It dates back to 1964 and has apparently been serviced, so it is in full working order and 'very good condition'. Those legs are original too. The RG.31 has a four-valve amplifier, with controls for treble, bass, on/off and wave change. The latter for the built-in radio, which is tuned with the dial on the front. To finish things off, the bakelite Dansette emblem lights up when it is turned on. Check out the listing for the full lowdown. Complete with a replacement stereo compatible cartridge and brand new stylus, the Dansette RG.31 is currently at just £1.60 right now. Definitely one to keep an eye on. His latest screenprint that is, which offers up a summer vibe and a mid-sixties feel, not to mention a surfboard, a seagull and a glamorous lady. It's an 11-colour serigraph, sized at 37 x 49cm and limited to 200, each signed and numbered by the artist. $175 is the price, with stocks likely to sell through quickly. Manhattan Bar mural wallpaper from ATADesigns Posted: 03 Aug 2011 12:38 AM PDT The new collection from ATADesigns has been inspired by Jazz Age New York and includes this striking Manhattan Bar mural panel wallpaper.  The collection is full of the material you'd expect: dancing, musicians and, in the case of this design, some pretty fearsome cocktails. Mug book from Larken Designs Posted: 03 Aug 2011 12:38 AM PDT Larken designs have created an unusual update of a mug book, normally a collection of photographs of criminals. In this case, they are handmade notebooks, decorated with the image of a vintage mug shot. The images date to the mid 1950s judging by the placards featured on the images. Take your pick from the woman shown or an equivalent era man.  If you like the look of these, take a look at some of the mug shot posters also offered by this Cincinnati based design duo.  The book costs $10.  Buy it from their Etsy store via Where the Lovely Things Are
