eBay watch: 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk III Posted: 23 Aug 2011 07:41 AM PDT Looking for a vintage sports car you can just drive away and upgrade in our own time? This 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk III could fit the bill. Based on the images, it already looks the part and is described as being in 'good mechanical order', with an MOT until November 2011 and of course, being of an age, is tax-exempt too. Plenty of upgrades already been done - see the listing for everything that has been replaced. But the seller also points out that some bodywork and cosmetics need sorting out, which is where the 'project' aspect comes in. £1,100 is the current price for what could be the ideal car for taking out for a spin next summer. This Visit London Fields print is the next in the series by Beyond Thrilled. The print strays not too far from the Stoke Newington print in either location or style. Routefinder armchair from John Lewis Posted: 23 Aug 2011 05:03 AM PDT Combining a retro shape with classic transport-style typography, it's no wonder this Routefinder armchair from John Lewis caught our eye.  The chair is made in a classic, chunky Art Deco style. The twist to the look is the linen covering which is printed with London travel destination, much in the style of some of the bus blinds we've featured in the past.  Like this? There's also a sofa in the same style, though that design uses the transport motif on accompanying loose cushions only.  The chair costs £699. See it online

Lego 1960s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van Posted: 23 Aug 2011 04:09 AM PDT I know we featured the Space Shuttle set the other day, but we think this Lego 1960s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van tops even that. It's said to be detailed recreation of the 1962 T1 van - if its not, I'm sure you VW experts will let us know. For your money, you get a massive 1,322-piece set, which includes detailing like the flat-four VW boxer engine above the rear axle, a pop-up roof, opening doors, a rounded roof and window frames, and an authentic interior including a sink, a bench that converts into a bed, a folding dining table, an opening cupboard, a lava lamp and a t-shirt in the window that says 'Make Lego models, not war'. According to Uncrate, this is in the US store right now for $120, although we've not been able to find it either in the US or the UK online stores. Which is where the Fred Perry long-sleeved polo shirts come in. Essentially, this is that same classic Fred Perry polo, but with longer sleeves long sleeves. Pretty much everything else is as you would expect, with detailing including collar tipping, button collar and elasticated cuffs. Obviously it's the same cloth, so not exactly sub-zero wear. Vintage Alphabet Poster by Paula Mills Posted: 23 Aug 2011 02:53 AM PDT   This Vintage Alphabet Poster has been created by Paula Mills who is one half of the Melbourne-based design company Sweet William. Sweet William describe themselves as: "we make, draw, sew, collect lots of sweet things and drink endless cups of tea!" which sounds pretty good to us. This particular print combines typography, vintage images and hand drawn illustrations and would look great in any child's room. It measures 8 inches by 10 and costs around £12. The Beatles and The Stones Exhibitions at Proud Galleries Posted: 23 Aug 2011 02:32 AM PDT   Who was better, The Beatles or The Stones? That old question springs to mind in response to Proud Galleries' upcoming exhibitions. The Beatles: Revolutionary 1965 by Michael Peto is coming to Proud Camden later this week, whilst over at Proud Chelsea from September, there is Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years - The Rolling Stones. The Beatles exhibition offers an intimate portrait of the band taken during one of the most significant years in their career, including photographs in the studio recording Rubber Soul and from the day they found out they would receive MBEs. Peto's photographs are unobtrusive in style and this exhibition includes a number of rare and unseen shots.   Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years brings together the work of numerous photographers who captured the band between 1962 and 1971 when they were signed to the label. The exhibition includes Gered Mankowitz's photographs capturing their first flush of commercial success in the US, Michael Cooper's highly personal shots taken in Tangiers and the California desert, Ethan Russell's images from the infamous 1969 US tour and Dominique Tarlé's photographs from Villa Nellecôte in the South of France where Exile on Main Street was recorded. The Beatles: Revolutionary 1965 by Michael Peto runs from 25th August to 16th October and Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years runs from 15th September until 23rd October. Sharman-Cox scours flea markets for vintage fabrics, beads, faux pearls and original military regalia and reworks them into original pieces of jewellery. The Skull and Pearl Necklace is entirely hand-stitched and beaded. A backing of antique cream linen with a layered lace panel is topped with an original brass crown and a design of vintage faux-pearls and cream, gold and red seed beads.
