eBay watch: 1960s space age bar and carry table

Posted: 20 Oct 2011 06:52 AM PDT

Bar

I have one of these (not this one, I might add), so I do know that this 1960s space age bar and carry table is quite a useful little item if you get it for the right price.

It's a miniature bar in essence, standing around 52cm tall and in white plastic, with room for your drinks and nibbles (or anything else) on the top, while the lower area is a smoked perspex bottle holder, able to store up to five bottles neatly.

If you want it, the price right now is £9.99. Perfect for any space age-inspired home.

Space Invaders sofa at Firebox

Posted: 20 Oct 2011 03:23 AM PDT

Invaders1

The official name is the Retro Invader Couch, but we're calling this 8-bit-inspired home furnishing by the name everyone else will be calling it - the Space Invaders sofa.

The name change is probably down to the licensing, there's no mention of that anywhere. But there is mention of the designer, one Igor Chak, who has created this retro gaming gem in limited numbers, all handmade in Los Angeles and all in the shape of an old school alien invader.

Invaders2

That pixelated design is created from a mix of leather and memory foam cushioning , with the total size around 196cm(W) x 84cm(D) x 75.8cm(H).

Unfortunately, you'll need more than a stash of coins to get in with this arcade classic. £5,500 is the price, with Firebox taking the orders.

Caroline Cape by Kiki's

Warm up with this Caroline cape by Kiki's

The weirdly warm autumn weather has well and truly ended and been replaced with soome brutally cold winter weather. It's been a pretty long time since we've experienced such a cold snap and we think the only way to beat it is by heading out and buying yourself something warm to wear, like this beautiful retro-inspired cape. The fake fur collar is slightly similar to wearing a dead sheep around your neck but it will keep you snug, and looking fashionable, throughout the cold weather.

Get your cap/all over wather bottle from Not On The High Street for £69.

"Modesty is the Best Policy" Soap Dish

Posted: 20 Oct 2011 02:08 AM PDT

The bathroom is often the poor relation when it comes to finding retro products, with options usually limited to a few patterned shower curtains, so this Modesty is the Best Policy Soap Dish is a nice little find.

Made in New York, the cream-coloured dish features the words written in a banner in a vintage style type. It makes a good finishing touch to the bathroom.

It costs £15 from Rockett St George.
