Stanley Mouse

After we finished the Autorama story a few readers wrote in to ask me if we ran into Stanley Mouse at Cobo Hall. Stanley has had a booth in the many car and motorcycle shows in the Detroit area over the years.

Big Rich Dorris told me he first saw Stanley painting hats at the State Fair. Many years ago and Stanley now paints whatever he chooses. His work is loved by Motorcycle fans and muscle car fans alike.

Stanley Mouse is one of the hottest graphic artists/painters to date... He did all the great funny cars of years past to the present... I'd love that fella to spray one of my Harleys... He is one bad a** dude! RIKKI ST JAMES

Though born in Fresno, California Stanley George Miller grew up in Detroit, Michigan. His Dad was a Disney Animator. Stanley was given the nickname Mouse as a ninth grader. Miller was expelled from Mackenzie High School in 1956 for mischievously repainting the facade at The Box, a popular restaurant across the street from Mackenzie. Following his junior year at nearby Cooley High School, Mouse completed his formal education at Detroit's Society of Arts and Crafts.

By 1958, Mouse had become fascinated by the Weirdo Hot Rod art movement that had begun in California a decade earlier. Having developed skills using an airbrush he began painting t-shirts at custom car shows.
