Posted: 11 Nov 2011 11:44 AM PST

RobotIf they had Christmas on the faraway planets of the b-movies of yesteryear, these festive automatons would surely be at the centre of every party.

These retro Robot Baubles from Habitat will bring a of 50s sci fi flurry to your Christmas tree. The three mechanical men stand at an impressive 11cm high and and come in a range of suitably space age yet festive shades. Of course, in their natural habitat the traditional tree would be made of stainless steel but we'll let that slide.

We are unable to confirm as to whether this Tardis Mug could contain more tea than first appears or not but it will certainly keep Doctor Who fans happy.

The tea-carrying Tardis is a Toby jug like no other! The roof of this ceramic depiction of the Doctor's legendary vehicle serves as a neat little lid to keep your beverage of choice nice and warm; surely an essential when travelling through time.

Classic Faber & Faber book cover art prints

It might not have been the original intention, but the artwork of Faber & Faber book covers has become classic in its own right. Enough for fine art publisher Wire-Frame to produce them as fine art prints.

The man behind the artwork is Bertold Wolpe, who joined the company as art director in 1941, casting a distinctive shadows over the company's artwork for 30 years after. The lettering and typography you see on the most famous covers is all his work.

Some of his finest work was in the 1960s, which coincidentally, is the material reproduced for the prints. See above and below to see what it looks like, with TS Eliot's 'Dante', Brian Aldiss's 'Non-Stop', Samuel Beckett's 'Endgame' and Philip Larkin's 'A Girl in Winter' the titles issued.

Each print measures 46 x 34 cm and is printed on matt 310 gsm fine art paper using pigment-based lightfast inks. You can secure one for £70 unframed or £125 framed, which come glazed and ready-to-hang in a choice of white or black frame.

eBay watch: Vintage 1960s Ercol bed and custom mattress

Posted: 11 Nov 2011 04:49 AM PST

Ercol

If you check the website, Ercol still makes beds, but as far as we can see, nothing like this vintage 1960s Ercol bed that's on eBay right now.

It's a very distinctive midcentury design, not unlike the company's seating from the current range, which might make it easy to match up in a room. This is one of two up for auction by the same seller (auctioned separately), with the bed said to be dated from the 1960s and made from solid beech, but with recent rewebbing and a custom-made mattress with rounded ends to fits the bed (costing £120 on its own).

Length is 188cm, width is 91cm and condition is described as 'excellent' with 'some wear commensurate with age'. The current auction price right now, including the mattress is 99 pence.

Back in July we featured the All You Need is Love Distilled print, which is transpires is part of a small collection of 1960s prints by Wasted and Wounded.

My favourite in the series is the Like a Rolling Stone Distilled print, which plays around with the lyrics from the Bob Dylan song, to create something striking and profound. The final design making up the set is based on The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction which is a cool and stylish design as befits the band's 1960s image. Each is limited to 500 prints.

The Like a Rolling Stone Distilled print costs £36 or you can buy all three for £80 from the Wasted and Wounded website.
